Lady Tigers Drop Two in Rare Conference Doubleheader

Mother Nature washed out a pair of Tri-Rivers Conference games for the Scotland County softball squad last week. With districts looming, the schedule forced a three-team double header to be played Monday night in Brookfield, featuring the Lady Bulldogs, SCR-I and Putnam County.

The host squad jumped to the head of the standings by knocking off Putnam County 5-0.

The Lady Bulldogs bested Scotland County 13-3 in a game shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule.

Brookfield jumped on top 1-0 in the bottom of the first and never looked back, adding pair of runs in the second before blowing the game open with three runs in the third and seven runs in the fourth.

Megan Creek led off the game with a base hit for the Lady Tigers but SCR-I didnít get on the board until the fifth. Augusta Purvis reached on an error to start the frame. She scored on a double by Creek. Kelly Lister delivered an RBI single and she later scored on a ground out to make the final score 13-3.

Lister took the loss on the mound, allowing 11 hits and three walks.

Creek was 3-3 with a double and a run scored. Lister was 1-2 with a walk and an RBI. Skyler Alderton was 1-3 and Courtney Jackson was 1-2 at the plate.

The Lady Tigers dropped to 1-4 in league play with a 9-2 loss to Putnam County in the nightcap of the doubleheader.

The Lady Midgets took the lead in the top of the second with a pair of runs.

Trailing 4-0 in the third, SCR-I got on the board. Creek singled to start the rally. She scored on a base hit by Lister, who was later plated by a base hit from Loren Smith to trim the deficit to 4-2.

Putnam County added an unearned run in the fourth, two more scores in the fifth and two more tallies in the sixth to cruse to the 9-2 victory.

Creek took the loss, allowing nine hits and one walk while striking out nine in seven innings of work.

Creek was 2-4 with a run scored. Lister was 1-1 with a pair of walks, an RBI and a run scored and Smith was 1-3 with an RBI.
