TRGC Chili Open Lives up to Name

Is it the Chili Open or the Chilly Open? Both. Golfers at Timber Ridge Golf Course on Sunday were treated to the namesake for lunch as well as cool weather conditions at the 2009 tournament schedule finale.

Dave Shalley took home top honors in the event shooting 10 under par. His score of 58 was six strokes better than runner up Ken McMinn who finished with a 64. Chris Hunt and Kelly Cooley tied for third with scores of 65. Hunt won the tie-breaker.

Gary Young took top honors in the A flight with a score of 69. Donnie Middleton was second with a 70 followed by Chipper Harris with a 71.

The ladies closed out the year with a two-person scramble tourney. Top honors went to Leslie Clark and Mary Darr with a 77. Angela Newman and Arlys Grant finished second with a 78 and Tonya Harrison and Mary Young were third.

The event featured two skills contests. Gary Young and Angela Newman won the prizes for closest to the pin on hole 33 while Arlys Grant and Dave Shalley made the longest putts on hole #5.
