Lady Tigers Blanked by North Shelby
North Shelby avenged an 8-1 loss at the Knox County tournament by defeating Scotland County 4-0 on September 29th.
Jessica Linberger tossed a one-hitter, as the Scotland County offense never got rolling. Megan Creek had the lone hit for the lady Tigers, who never mounted a serious scoring threat. Cali Holt and Kelly Lister reached base via walks, but could not get into scoring position.
The Lady Raiders jumped on top 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning. The key blow was a triple by Jodi Brumbaugh that plated two of the three runs.
Creek settled down after that and blanked North Shelby over the next four innings. The Raiders tacked on a single unearned run in the fifth to make the final score 4-0.
Creek allowed just three hits and two walks while striking out 10.
The loss dropped Scotland County to 7-10 and 1-5 in the Tri-Rivers Conference. North Shelby improved to 8-11 and 2-4 in the TRC.
