Stump No Hits SCR-I in Softball Regular Season Finale
Schuyler County celebrated senior night in style on October 5th in Lancaster, shutting out Scotland County 5-0 in both teamís regular season finale.
Senior Kaitlin Stump tossed a no hitter, losing the perfect game in the final inning.
The Lady Rams jumped on top 2-0 in the bottom of the first. It could have been worse, but SCR-I turned a double play to end the threat. Loren Smith lost a pop up in the sun, and the ball dropped in allowing the hitter to reach first. But a runner on third attempted to score and Smith nailed her at the plate. Catcher Kelly Lister then fired down to second base to nail the runner there.
That proved to be all the runs Schuyler County needed as Stump mowed down the SCR-I hitters in a game that took less than one hour to complete.
Megan Creek walked to start the bottom of the seventh to ruin the perfect game. But she was picked off at first, insuring that Stump faced the minimum of 21 batters. She struck out 14.
Schuyler County scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to make the final score 5-0.
Creek allowed just five hits and walked one while striking out seven for SCR-I.
The Lady Tigers finished the regular season with a 7-11 mark and went 1-6 in the Tri-Rivers Conference.
