SCR-I Grinds Up Green City 72-21 in Hoops Season Opener

Scotland County scored early and often as all eight girls got into the score book in a 72-21 victory over Green City in the opening round of the Novinger Tournament.

The Lady Tigers pressure defense dismantled the Lady Hornets in the first period, allowing just three points. SCR-I converted on numerous turnovers off the press to lead 22-3 after eight minutes of play. Ashley Tague and Jamie Shaw each had eight points in the opening frame.

The offense did not miss a beat in period number two. Shaw and Tague combined for 16 points as SCR-I dominated the paint. But there were plenty of points from the perimeter as well. Skyler Alderton knocked down a three pointer as the Lady Tigers guards put up 12 points during the onslaught.

The pace slowed in the third period. Green City was able to get into its offense without the press. SCR-I still outscored Green City 11-9 to lead 61-20 and insure the clock would run non-stop in the fourth period.

Despite the abbreviated period, the Lady Tigers still scored 11 points. Cali Holt connected on a three pointer and Shaw added to her career best 27 points with six fourth quarter tallies. Tague finished with 20 points and Alderton added nine.
