Eagles Rally in Seventh Inning to Hand SCR-I 3-1 League Loss

A two-out single in the top of the seventh broke a 1-1 tie and sent Scotland County to its second conference loss in softball action in Memphis on September 15th.

Knox County scored a pair of runs in the pivotal inning en route to the 3-1 Tri-Rivers Conference victory.

The two squads had been locked in a pitcher's dual up to that point.

Megan Creek was perfect through three innings for the Lady Tigers. Knox County finally got on the board in the top of the fifth. A pair of base hits followed by an error by Scotland County, allowed the first run of the contest to cross the plate.

Knox County's Brittney Miller was equally as good on the mound.

SCR-I threatened in the second inning, when Courtney Jackson and Katie Howard reached base, but could not score.

Miller retired nine straight until the bottom of the fifth inning. With two outs, Augusta Purvis reached on an error. Elizabeth Duzan followed with a base hit before Creek drove in the run with an RBI double. Knox County intentionally walked Kelly Lister to load the bases, but Miller got out of the jam.

The Lady Eagles strung together three hits and took advantage of an SCR-I error to make the seventh inning rally. Lorrie Peters delivered the key two RBI single.

Miller retired the side in order in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the 3-1 victory.

Scotland County fell to 5-5 on the year and 0-2 in league play. Knox County improved to 7-3.

Lister was 1-2 at the plate for SCR-I. Cali Holt, Duzan and Creek had the other SCR-I hits.

Creek allowed six hits and walked none while striking out six for Scotland County. Miller allowed four hits, walked one and hit one batter while striking out nine.
