2010 National FFA Week to be Celebrated February 20-27

Memphis, MO- The Memphis FFA Chapter will celebrate National FFA Week Februray 20-27, 2010. Lead Out Loud is the theme this year as members pledge to show off what makes them premier leaders in their schools and communities. More than half a million members around the nation will participate in National FFA Week activities at the local and state levels. The focus of National FFA Week is to tell the community and the country about the great opportunities available through FFA. From its beginnings in 1928 as the Future Farmers of America, the National FFA Organization today reaches out to all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. FFA is committed to developing character and leadership skills, as well as preparing members for a lifetime of civic leadership and career success. As a part of National FFA Week, Memphis FFA members are planning the following special events: ∑ Sunday February 21st -Attend Memphis First Christian Church 10:30 ∑ FFA Barnball Game (Volleyball) FFA Members vs Parents, Alumni, Faculty 1:30 ∑ Monday February 22nd -Jr. High Recruitment Assembly 2pm, FFA Super Farmer Contest 6:30pm ∑ Tuesday February 23rd -Official Dress Day, PALS Program at SCR-I Elementary 2:15pm ∑ Wednesday February 24th -Annual FFA Appreciation Breakfast-serve 6:30-8am AG Building ∑ Favorite FFA Shirt Day ∑ Thursday February 25th - Blue & Gold Pride Day ∑ Friday February 26th -Truck & Tractor Day 7:15am, Hick Day ∑ Saturday February 27th -FFA Alumni Card Party 6pm SCR-I Commons Memphis FFA members are the leaders of tomorrow and dedicated to community service activities like the PALS project. Whether itís working with elementary children or serving as a chapter officer, FFA members make a positive difference on those around them. They are success-oriented students who are driven to achieve their goals. FFA builds leaders, and leaders impact the future. FFA members have opportunities to attend national leadership conferences, start their own businesses, and apply for awards and scholarships. Through classroom instruction and hands-on learning, agricultural education and FFA are making a positive difference in the lives of students. FFA members are our future engineers, scientists, teachers and producers. One of every five Americans is employed in the food, fiber and natural resources industries, and FFA members are preparing for one of those 300 careers in agriculture.
