Soil & Water Conservation District to Host Customer Appreciation Day, Election

The Scotland County Soil and Water Conservation District will elect two supervisors at the districtís annual meeting next week. Voters will be able to cast a ballot from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the 3rd Annual Customer Appreciation Day set for March 5th at the Scotland County Fitness Center in Memphis.

The nomination commitees for the election submitted Curt Triplett as the Area 1 supervisor candidate and Doug Freburg as the Area 3 supervisor candidate.

Any qualifying candidate not nominated by the committee may have their name added to the ballot if they reside in one of the two areas for which the elections are being held, and after they have secured 10 signatures of land owners within the service area on a petition to be submitted to the Scotland County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors at least 10 days before the election.

Supervisors administer district policies, programs, personnel, and funds. The District is supported by the one-tenth of one percent parks, soils, water sales tax and other sources.

For additional information on the district election, contact the district office by phone at 660-465-7251, ext. 3 or email cassandra.bryant@swcd.mo.gov.

A free lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for all district landowners, operators and customers.

The district board of supervisors will be present to answer questions throughout the day regarding the district programs that are available to landowners in Scotland County.
