MoDOT Schedules Local Culvert Replacements

HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, MoDOT crews will have several culvert replacements in Scotland County beginning March 25. These replacements will all involve lane closures along the route. Beginning March 25, MoDOT will clean a ditch 3 miles east of Rutledge on Route A from 8:30 until 2:30 p.m. On Friday, March 26, the first culvert, approximately 1 mile east of Rutledge will be replaced on Route A. The road will be closed from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. In the afternoon the same day, another replacement will occur between Routes M and A junction on Route M at the edge of Rutledge, with the road closed between 1 and 2:30 p.m.

The following week, beginning Monday, March 29, three culverts will be replaced on Route M between Routes A and W junction, with the road closed between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. On Tuesday, March 30, two culverts will be replaced on Route M between Routes MM and W junction with the road closed from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. On Wednesday, March 31, four culverts will be replaced on Route M between Routes MM and 15, with the road closed from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. On Thursday, April 1, another culvert will be replaced on Route W one quarter mile east of the Route 15 junction, with the road closed between 8:30 and 11 a.m. On Friday, April 2, the final culvert will be replaced on Route DD one mile north of Route C junction, with the road closed between 8:30 and 11 a.m.

After the culverts have been replaced, some settling will occur. MoDOT crews will monitor the area and continue to fill the roadway with surfacing material until the settling stops.

All roadwork is posted on the traveler information map on the day it begins. Those traveling and commuting public are encouraged to check the online map at www.modot.org daily for new work zones. MoDOT also offers e-update messages sent directly to your email.
