Scotland County Stream Team Forming

Local residents interested in helping protect local rivers and streams will have an opportunity to receive training in May to become part of the forming Scotland County Stream Team.

Free training will be available through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) at the Macon Office on Saturday, May 15th. DNR teams up with the Missouri Conservation Department and the Conservation Federation of Missouri to promote the Stream team program.

Interested parties need to register by May 5th as part of the Scotland County Stream Team. Register by calling 800-575-2322 or online at the water quality monitoring link www.mostreamteam.org.

The Stream Team Program provides an opportunity for all interested residents to get involved in river conservation in Missouriís estimated 56,000 miles of flowing waterways.

The teams practice hands-on stewardship, promoting programs such as litter control and clean-up, streambank stabilization, streamside tree planting, water quality monitoring and storm drain stenciling.

Team members are also encouraged to become advocates to speak on behalf of Missouriís stream resources.
