McDaniel Memorabilia to be Displayed at Museum of Missouri Military History
A number of items of memorabilia from a local military family will be preserved for posterity at the Museum of Missouri Military History in Jefferson City.
A number of items of the late Roy McDaniel will be displayed at the museum, including the World War II veteran’s uniform, complete with medals and his M-1 Garand rifle, as well as several Japanese flags and Japanese saber that he captured during the war.
Roy’s son, Gerald, donated the artifacts to the museum, along with several WWII related items that had belonged to his mother.
The family will be well represented at the facility, as it will also display a collection of Vietnam-era memorabilia donated by Gerald from his service time.
“These things will go on display very soon,” said Gerald in a letter to the Memphis Democrat. “I remember you doing several articles on my father’s military service during WWII. Just thought you would like to know that dad will be remembered.”
The Museum of Missouri Military History is located at 2007 Retention Drive in Jefferson City. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For more information call (573) 638-9603 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
