McNamar Crowned Queen of Missouri Nursing Home Pageant
The Activity Directors Association of Missouri (north Missouri chapter) held its 30th annual Nursing Home Queen Pageant in Clarence, MO, on April 17, 2010. Alberta McNamar of the Scotland County Care Center was crowned queen of the pageant, finishing first among nine contestants.
Alberta has been married to Larry for 51 years. They lived on a farm in Gorin where they raised grain, hogs, cattle and boys. She states that they had four sons. Two are deceased, one is serving our country in Afghanistan and one works at the Pepsi plant in Memphis.
Alberta has been a resident at SCCC for two years. She is known as a card shark, playing 11-point pitch. She also enjoys oil painting, singing in the quartet and is first in the bingo hall on bingo day.
Mrs. McNamar’s fondest memory is a trip to the Colony Store for ice cream, where she proposed to Larry and he said yes.
Alberta’s cheerful attitude and disposition were primary factors in her winning the contest. You can often see her smile on display during pretty weather when she and Larry get out to tour the town in their golf cart. She is currently having her golf cart painted her favorite color of Viking purple.
The staff at Scotland County Care Center is very proud of Alberta’s accomplishment.
