Speedway to Open 2010 Season Saturday Night
A break in the weather is needed for local race fans to get the opportunity to see the green flag fall to start the tenure of new promoter Wayne Messmaker at Scotland County Speedway.
After resting dormant most of the 2009 race season, SCS is geared up to bring fast-paced action to the region on Saturday nights once again.
The 2010 season debut is scheduled for Saturday, May 1st.
Mother Nature forced the cancellation of the scheduled practice day April 24th, meaning this will be the first look at the track in 2010 for most drivers. The track will need a break from the weather to insure Saturday’s opening night, as three-inches of rain fell across the region April 23rd and 24th with spotty precipitation continuing early this week.
Weather permitting, the track will be welcoming fans with open arms, courtesy of a discounted admissions schedule set by Messmaker. Grandstand entry will be just $6 every Saturday night, with kids 12 and under getting in free.
The new promoter also has a series of free nights scheduled in 2010 to honor teachers, mothers, firemen and emergency responders just to mention a few.
Track sponsors in 2010 include Memphis Pepsi-Cola, Gas & More, Slayton Polaris, and the Lunch Box Cafe in Douds, IA.
Hot laps will get underway at 6:30 p.m. with races to start at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
The racing action will feature A-modifieds, B-modifieds, stock cars, hobby stocks and 4-cylinders.
