FFA to Host Hired Hand Auction
Slavery has been outlawed in this nation for centuries, but the Memphis FFA Chapter will bring back its own version of indentured servitude for a day in an effort to raise money for the club.
Auctioneer Jerry Blomme will be “selling” Memphis FFA members as hired hands for the day to the highest bidders. The special event will be held Friday, May 21 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Scotland County Livestock sale arena.
“FFA members have a wide variety of work experience and backgrounds that could prove valuable to their buyers”, said FFA advisor Cassie Whitlock.
Local members have volunteered to work an eight-hour work day for the highest bidder in order to raise money for the Memphis FFA Chapter.
A free meal will be provided for buyers the night of the sale.
