Three-Year-Old Hurt in ATV Accident

A three-year-old Scotland County boy was injured in an ATV accident in rural Scotland County on July 30th.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cody L. Briggs suffered moderate injuries when he fell off an ATV he was a passenger on.

The patrol accident report indicated the incident occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m. on County Road 512, one mile southwest of Memphis.

Anna Monroe, 11, was driving a 2005 Polaris ATV westbound on County Road 512. Briggs, the driverís brother, was a passenger on the ATV when he fell from the vehicle. He was transported to Scotland County Hospital by Scotland County Ambulance and then transferred to University Hospital in Columbia.

That marked the third injury-accident investigated by the Highway Patrol in Scotland County during the month of July.

On July 13, the Patrol investigated a single vehicle accident on County Road 558, one mile north of Memphis.

According to the report, Bo A. Yearns, 16, suffered minor injuries when he lost control of the 2002 Ford he was driving and ran off the road where the vehicle overturned twice before coming to rest on its wheels.

On July 8, the Patrol investigated a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 15 south and Highway 136 in Memphis.

According to the investigation report, a 2008 Ford driven by Alan E. Graham, 60, of Luray was northbound on Highway 15, when it rear-ended another vehicle stopped at the intersection. The Graham vehicle struck the rear of a northbound 1997 Peterbilt driven by Andrew G. Wever, 34, of Cantril, IA.

A passenger in Grahamís vehicle, Antoinette K. McCluskey, 47, of Kahoka, sustained minor injuries in the crash. She was transported by a trooper to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.
