Memphis Family Hurt in Crash on County Road
Two Memphis women and three children were injured in a one-vehicle accident on a Scotland County road Saturday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on County Road 661, four miles east of Downing at 4:35 p.m. on September 4th.
Summer J. Garrett was northbound in a 2002 Ford Ranger when the vehicle reportedly struck loose gravel, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle went off the right side of the roadway. The driver over-corrected bringing the vehicle back onto the roadway and off the left side, where it overturned.
A passenger in the vehicle, Hazel M. Owings, 19, sister-in-law of the driver, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.
Summer, and three other passengers in the vehicle Michael P. Garrett, 5, Jonathon L, Garrett, 3, and Cameron S. Garrett, 1, all suffered minor injuries in the crash. The driver and her three sons were all transported by Schuyler County Ambulance to Scotland County Hospital.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department and the Scotland and Schuyler county ambulance services.
