Fun Run, Walk Draws 140 Participants to Antique Fair

The 4th annual Antique Fair 5K and 1.5 mile Fun Run and Walk proved to be another fun event at the Antique Fair. Perfect weather plus 140 runners and walkers of all ages and skill levels combined to make the morning a festive and positive atmosphere emphasizing healthy lifestyle choices.

Place medals were awarded to the following age division winners in the 5K race:

Overall Male Winner—Seth Brown (LaPlata)

Overall Female Winner—Chandra Smith (Bloomfield)

Female 18 and Under—1st, Anna Monroe (Memphis); 2nd, Loren Smith (Memphis); 3rd, Shelby Westhoff (Memphis).

Male 18 and Under—1st, Rod Sears (Memphis); 2nd, Zach Miller (Memphis); 3rd, Micah Walker (Kirksville).

Female 19-39—1st, Summer Owens (Memphis); 2nd, Terra Pohren (Farmington); 3rd, Meagan Weber (Memphis).

Male 19-39—1st, Matt Bowen (Kirksville); 2nd, John McQuoid (Moscow Mills); 3rd, Zach Springer (Kirksville).

Female 40 & Over—1st, Angela Hawes (Memphis); 2nd, Diane Smith (Bloomfield); 3rd, Krista Walker (Kirksville).

Male 40 & Over—1st, Chris Harris (Memphis); 2nd, Birney Belfield (LaPlata); 3rd, Jeff Walker (Kirksville).

Free pairs of shoes donated by Cook’s Men’s Store were awarded to the male and female winners of the 5K plus the following:

Youngest Participant—Sadie Jackson (Memphis)

Oldest Participant—Gene Brown (Downing)

Largest Household—Matt and Batina Dodge family (Memphis)

All children school-age and below who participated in the 5K run/walk or 1.5 mile walk were awarded a finisher’s medal provided by Dr. Jeff Davis.

All participant names were placed in a drawing for many nice prizes. The grand prize winner of a Wii console with Wii Sports Resort package, courtesy of the fun run committee, was Donna Austin of Memphis. A 6-month membership donated by the Scotland County Fitness Center was given to Brock Aylward. There were many other gifts awarded, including free spa pedicures from Red Hot Nails, a free session from Mona’s Studio, gift certificates to Main Street Cafe and Hopkins Lumber, and free pizzas from Pizza Hut and Casey’s.

Sponsors for the event included: Britta Burrus Designs, Casey’s, Cook’s Men’s Store, Dr. Davis, Exchange Bank of Northeast Missouri, Gas & More, Gorin Christian Church, Hopkins Lumber, Jackson Auction Service, J’s Foods, Kapfer Construction, Katie’s Grooming, Main Street Cafe, Memphis Democrat, Memphis Lumber, Mona’s Studio, Northeast Missouri Rural Telephone, Pepsi, Pizza Hut, Red Hot Nails, Scotland County Hospital, Scotland County Fitness Center, Scotland County Health Department, and Stu’s Crew.

Water stations were provided by Scotland County Care Center, Primrose Realty, and Scotland County 4-H. Course attendants were volunteers from Scotland County R-I National Honor Society.
