Stanley Hatfield Inducted into 4-H Hall of Fame at Missouri State Fair

The late Stanley Hatfield of Arbela was welcomed into the Missouri 4-H Hall of Fame on August 15 at the 2010 Missouri State Fair. He was one of 50 volunteers and 4-H supporters from around the state recognized for their service and dedication to the youth of University of Missouri Extension 4-H.

“It is our great pleasure to honor these exceptional members of our Missouri 4-H family by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. Their dedication to Missouri 4-H through volunteer service that totals 1,676 years combined is what makes the MU Extension 4-H Youth Development program what it is today” said Cheryl Reams, executive director of the Missouri 4-H Foundation.

The following paragraph was read at the ceremony.

Stanley’s dedication to 4-H started when his children joined the Azen Jolly Timers 4-H Club in Scotland County. Stanley soon became a beef project leader.  Stanley Hatfield was instrumental in the Scotland County Fair Junior Exhibitor’s Sale, establishing a system that paid exhibitors top dollar for their animals.  Stanley’s dedication never wavered; he continued to auctioneer at the exhibitors sale, and to bring in new buyers.  There were no strangers to this remarkable fellow, and he will truly be remembered. Accepting the award was Bonny Hatfield.

The foundation’s board of trustees established the hall of fame in 2007 to recognize outstanding service to University of Missouri Extension 4-H programs.

“The foundation is proud of the great people who make Missouri 4-H such a premier youth organization, and we are delighted to acknowledge their devotion to Missouri youth,” said Ruth Tofle, chair of the Missouri 4-H Foundation Board of Trustees.
