WIC Program Set to Help 108 Monthly

Scotland County Health Department has announced that a contract to continue to provide WIC services for fiscal year 2010-2011 has been signed with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.

Under the terms of the contract, the health department will be able to serve monthly 108 eligible pregnant or postpartum women, infants and children up to the age of 5.

The benefits that WIC offers are nutrition education and guidance, breastfeeding education and support, referrals for health care and nutritious foods such as milk, eggs, cheese, cereal, juice, peanut butter, fresh of frozen fruits and vegetables, baby food and formula for infants that are not breastfed. All provided at no cost to the participant.
