Local 4-H Club Honored for Fan Mail to Troops

With its key Christmas and Valentine mail collections looming, Friends of Our Troops Headquarters received welcomed contributions this month from Missouri 4-H clubs.

Members of Jolly Jacks and Jills 4-H Club of Scotland County showed their support for the troops with a tremendous letter-writing campaign that ranked among the three largest in the state. The group, led by Tonya Bradley of Memphis, took up the challenge to generate as much fan mail to the troops as possible. One of the club's members received a certificate for preparing more than 25 pieces of mail.

Cards and letters are received from all across the nation, mixed thoroughly, then divvied up into hundreds of packages, both large and small, to be sent to military units across the U.S. and around the world.

As the continuation of the Vietnam Mail Call project which was launched in 1965, this mail has been boosting the morale of our men and women in uniform for almost a half-century.

Anyone who would like to know how to join the Fan Mail for the Troops campaign can receive complete information and instructions by sending their name and mailing address to Friends of Our Troops, P.O. Box 65408, Fayetteville, NC 28306.

"The troops will thank you, and so do we," said Friends of Our Troops organizer Ben Wiser.
