A medical issue caused a local driver to black out resulting in a one-car accident north of Memphis Saturday morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Gary D. Shoop, 45, was northbound on Highway 15, five miles north of Memphis, in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee when he lost consciousness. The vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway and went down a steep embankment before overturning and coming to rest on its top.
