RICHARD “DEAN” FREDERICK
(1/24/1924 – 2/2/2010)



Richard (Dean) Frederick, 86, of Memphis, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.

The son of E. D. and Elsie (Smith) Frederick, he was born January 24, 1924 in Windsor, Illinois. Dean graduated from Bible Grove High School in 1942. He married Louise Cowell on May 31, 1944 in Memphis, Missouri and to this union four children were born. He served in the Navy as a Seaman First Class from 1944 to 1946. Dean and Louise owned and operated a dairy farm in Bible Grove until they retired in 1999 and moved to Memphis. Dean was a member of the Greensburg Masonic Lodge and the Bible Grove Christian Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; four brothers, Henry, Roscoe, Kent and Victor; three sisters, Betty Wright, Ruby Wright and Janie Frederick; and a son-in-law George Herring.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise; four children, Eileen (Raymond) Mullikin of Muscatine, Iowa, Peggy (Harvey) Lancaster of Quincy, Illinois, Richard (Debbie) Frederick of Memphis, Missouri, and Kimberly Herring of Sabetha, Kansas; nine grandchildren, Denise (Tim) Fuegen, Dannette (Greg) Christensen, Dana (Rob) Solt, Darin (Jenny) Mullikin, Ginger Whittaker, Jill (Rich) Brady, Gina (Brent) Hochgraber, Jennifer (Ken) McMinn and Jeff (Emily)Frederick; twenty great-grandchildren, Trayton and Desiree Fuegen, Ashlyn, Ben, Seth, Andrew and Anna Christensen, Ryan, Jonathan, Sarah and James Solt, Nathan, Rachel and Ella Mullikin, Dalton Whittaker, Rachel and Lauren Brady, Kaitlyn and Haylee McMinn and Lilly Frederick; two sisters, Helen Dickerson and Hazel Unglesbee of Memphis, MO; and two brothers, John (Maridee) Frederick and George (Sharon) Frederick of Downing, Missouri, nieces nephews and a host of friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Care Center or the Scotland County Nutrition Site and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Masonic services were conducted by the Greensburg Lodge on February 6, 2010 at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis and the V.F. W. Post #4958 of Memphis presented the flag to the family at the close of the graveside ceremony.

Funeral services were held Sunday, February 7, 2010 at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis. Officiating the service was Brother Larry Smith and interment followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery west of Greensburg, Missouri.

Pallbearers were Tom Barickman, Larry Frederick, John Wayne Frederick, Rick Frederick, Allen Frederick, Jim Dickerson, and Dave Frederick.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
