WANDA LOU SWOPE
(9/1/1938 - 2/2/2010)



Wanda Lou Swope, 71, died Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri.

She was born September 1, 1938, at Gorin, Missouri, to Lewis Fredrick and Beulah Faye Purvis Kraus.

Wanda graduated from Wyaconda High School, Class of 1956 and worked for the Gorin Argus and until most recently, for the Memphis Democrat as office manager.

She married Carl Eugene Swope on January 16, 1971, at the Gorin United Methodist Church in Gorin, Missouri. Carl died February 19, 2002.

Wanda was a very private lady. She enjoyed her work, flowers, stained glass and any cement figurines.

She is survived by a brother, Gurden Kraus and his wife, Sue, of Wayland, Missouri; two sisters: Dianna Kappler and her husband, Dean, of Peoria, Illinois and Shirley Huggans of Monroe City, Missouri. Other survivors include three nieces: Fawn Duve and her husband, Mark, of St. Louis, Missouri; Dana Brummett and her husband, Lee, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Tina Tonsor of Monroe City, Missouri; a nephew, Lou Kappler, of Peoria, Illinois and a great-niece and great-nephew, Haley and Michael Brummett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, Fredrick Eugene Kraus and a nephew, Timothy Kraus.

Cremation has been accorded. A graveside service will be held at the Memphis Cemetery at a later date. A memorial will be established in memory of Wanda and contributions may be sent to Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 635556.
