ETHEL MAE (KEARSE) McGOLDRICK
(1/31/1928 – 4/23/2010)



Ethel Mae (Kearse) McGoldrick, daughter of Eddie William and Hilda Anna (Schupbach) Kearse, was born January 31, 1928 in Lancaster, Missouri and died on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri at the age of 82.

She was united in marriage to James Alvin McGoldrick on August 14, 1945 in Lancaster, Missouri and to this union four children were born, Wayne, Eldon, David Mark and Laurie.

Surviving are her children, Wayne McGoldrick and wife, Joyce of Lancaster, Missouri, Eldon McGoldrick and wife, Debbie of Lancaster, Missouri, David Mark McGoldrick and wife, Christy of Lancaster, Missouri and Laurie Eads and husband, Scott of Lancaster, Missouri; six grandchildren, Mike McGoldrick, Jeff McGoldrick, Kay McGoldrick, Adam McGoldrick, Beth Yearns and Daniel Yearns; three step-grandchildren, Dale Bogan, Julie Collis and Haley Eads; three great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sally Kearse of Lancaster, Missouri and Betty Sebolt and husband, Joe of Lancaster, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Alvin McGoldrick on March 20, 1997; and two brothers, James Edward Kearse and Clarence William Kearse.

Ethel taught school for one term at the Melvin School, north of Lancaster, Missouri. She milked cows for 30 years and raised chickens for her family to eat as well as sold eggs for many years. Ethel devoted her whole life to her family and home. No one ever went to Ethel Mae’s and went home hungry or empty handed. She never knew a stranger as everyone was welcome at her home.

Funeral services were held Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Lancaster United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Music was provided by organist, Maureen Watkins and soloist Cole Tippett. Special musical selections of “In The Garden”, “One Day at a Time” and “Will There Be Any Stars In My Crown” were performed. Pallbearers were Mike, Jeff, Adam, Caleb and Tyler McGoldrick and Daniel Yearns. Flower girls were Kay McGoldrick, Beth Yearns and Ashley McGoldrick.

Memorials have been established for the Lancaster United Methodist Church or to Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.

Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster.
