BILLY L. LEFLER

Billy L. Lefler, 78, of Fremont, NE and formerly of Memphis, Missouri, passed away, Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at Nye Pointe Health & Rehab in Fremont.

He was born June 21, 2010, to Glen and Edith Saulsburry Lefler in Morris, Illinois. He was raised in Memphis and graduated from high school there. He then entered the Air Force and served during the Korean War for four years. He was an aircraft mechanic, staff sergeant and served in Japan for 28 months. He received the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He worked his whole life as a Lineman for construction companies. He worked and lived in many states. He worked for Local 1525 IBEW in Omaha. He retired in November 1993. Billy was a member of Local 1525 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Omaha and a member of VFW Post 854 of Fremont.

Billy Lee Lefler married Betty Ann (Walker) on May 18, 1956 at Memphis, MO. To this union were born three children.

He is preceded in death by his father; mother; and two brothers, Raymond Max Lefler and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lefler of Fremont; two sons, Bruce and wife Debbie Lefler of Knoxville, IA and Brice and wife Shelly Lefler of Humbolt, NE; one daughter, Belinda and husband Brett Kukoly of Valley, NE; brother Eugene and wife Janice Lefler of Aurora, CO; sister-in-law Carolyn Blake of Memphis, MO. Seven grandchildren: Alex and Katelyn Kukoly, Blake and Blaine Lefler, and Heath and Matthew Lefler, and Brittany and husband Toby Vandekamp, and one great grandchild Dillion Lefler and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation services were at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont on Friday evening and will continue on Saturday morning. Military Honors will be provided by the Fremont Honor Guard made up by members of the VFW post 854 and American Legion Post 20 following the funeral at the Funeral Home. There will be a memorial at the cemetery in Fremont at a later date. Memorials may be given to Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice Program or the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk in Fremont. Arrangements were made by the Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, Nebraska.
