LLOYD WILSON WARD
(5/22/1920 - 7/25/2010)



Lloyd Wilson Ward, 90, of Rutledge, MO passed away Sunday afternoon, July 25, 2010 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.

The son of Henry and Ida Mae Wilson Ward, he was born May 22, 1920 in Jefferson County, Iowa. He attended schools at Hudson, Illinois, Indiana and McClean, Illinois where he graduated from. After graduation he worked on the farm due to the death of his father in March of 1940. He and his brother Orville helped their mother with the farming.

On February 10, 1946 he married Marjorie Starkey in Bloomington, Illinois, and to this union two children were born, Connie and Robert.

In 1952 Lloyd, Marjorie, and his brother Orville along with his wife Donna moved to Missouri where they purchased a farm south of Rutledge. Lloyd and Marjorie lived in the Rutledge area for 58 years.

Lloyd was on the Pauline Cemetery Board, Middle Fabius Water Project, Rutledge School Board from 1959 to 1970, Soil and Water Conservation District and was a 50-year plus member of the Masonic Lodges of both Rutledge and Memphis.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one brother, Orville, two sisters, Sarah Becker and Geneva Canfield.

Surviving relatives include his wife Marjorie Ward of Rutledge, MO, one daughter, Connie Ward and her husband Ray of Memphis, MO; one son Robert “Bob” Ward and his wife, Merry of Edina, MO; three grandchildren, Joey Ann Hintz and husband Terry of Nekossa, WI, Robert Ward and wife Maranda of Edina, MO, Sarah Montgomery and husband Jim of Kirksville, MO; two step-grandchildren, Heather Ward and fiance Lee Raleigh of Canton, MO, and Kristi Stansberry of Ottumwa, IA.; eight great-grandchildren Jessica, Kory and Logan Hintz, Preston, Wesley, Elijah and Mattie Ward, Max Johnwayne Montgomery; seven step-great grandchildren, JL Montgomery, Natasha Barnhardt, Tayler and Kailee Davis, Tierra Josalyn and Landon Stansberry; one step-great-great grandson, Mavrick Montgomery, two sisters, Jenny Fulk of McLean, IL, and Doris Miles of Clearwater, FL; one sister-in-law Donna Miller of Moss Point, MS and one brother-in-law John Becker Jr. of Stanford, IL, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Pauline Cemetery or the Memphis Masonic Lodge # 16 A.F. & A.M. and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St. Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services were held at the Payne Funeral Chapel on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. Officiating the service was Rev. Raymond Ward and interment followed in the Pauline Cemetery at Rutledge, MO.

Pallbearers were Robert Ward, Jim Montgomery, David Parrish, Oren Erickson, Brandon Givens and Richard Witherow. Honorary Pallbearers were Jim Waack, Ray Ward, George Morrison, Richard Clark, Tim Goucher, Norman Goucher, Dwain Perrigo, Wesley Weiler, Mark Weiler, Gayland Weiler, Donnie Small, Pat Ammons and Dan Cavanaugh.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
