BARBARA MAE SEAMSTER

Barbara Mae Seamster, 75 of Memphis, Missouri passed away at the Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri on Friday, December 10, 2010.
The daughter of C. R. (Jim) and Jessie Elizabeth (Boag) Stothard, Barbara was born on May 10, 1935 in Downing, Missouri. She graduated from the Downing High School in Downing, Missouri with the graduating class of 1953.
On January 12, 1958 in Memphis, Missouri, Barbara was united in marriage to Edwin Dean Seamster and to this union 3 children were born, Deborah, Michael and Christopher.
Survivors include her husband, Dean of Memphis, Missouri; her children, Deborah Seamster of Memphis, Missouri and Michael Seamster and his wife, Laura of Marion, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Seamster of Floral Park, New York, Joshua (Tracy) Seamster of Marion, Iowa, Catherine (David) Nolte of Marion, Iowa and Janessa Seamster of Marion, Iowa; 3 great grandchildren, Hannah Seamster of Floral Park, New York, Ruby and Betty Seamster of Marion, Iowa; 1 sister, Carolyn June Root and husband, Con of Newburg, Missouri; 1 brother-in-law, Richard Lewis of Moberly, Missouri; 1 sister-in-law, Carol Seamster of Downing, Missouri; 3 nieces, one who Barbara and Dean helped raise, Lisa Miller of Orlando, Florida, Marti McGoldrick and husband, Mike of Glenwood, Missouri and Marla Dufur and husband, David of Independence, Kansas; great nieces and nephews, Ashley and Caleb McGoldrick of Glenwood, Missouri and Taylor and Preston Dufur of Independence, Kansas; other family members and many good friends.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Carl Drummond; a son in infancy, Christopher John Seamster; her sister, Reta Jane Lewis; a brother in infancy and her brother-in-law, Charles Seamster.
Barbara was a member of the First Christian Church of Memphis, Missouri where she performed many duties and was a very faithful member as long as her health permitted.
She will be missed by all who knew her as she treasured their friendship.
Graveside services were held on Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church assisted by Jack Sumption, pastor of the First Christian Church in Memphis, Missouri officiating. Pallbearers were Christopher Seamster, David Nolte, Joshua Seamster, Joe Fulk, Terry Fincher and Joel Kapfer. Honorary pallbearer was Glen Lister.
Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nursing Home or to the Scotland County Care Center.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
