Lady Tigers Return to Hoops Action to Blow Out Brashear

After more than three weeks away from varsity action, one thing was for sure Monday night in Memphis, the Scotland County Lady Tigers haven’t forgotten how to play defense.

SCR-I returned from the Christmas break in style, blowing out Brashear 78-22 in front of the home crowd. The defense got the scoring started as Anna Duley turned a steal into two points to start the contest. Skyler Alderton connected from three point range before the defense converted another steal into points as Ashley Tague scored on the fast break to make it 8-1 with 5:51 left in the first period and force a Brashear timeout.

The lead grew to 14-1 as Tague, Aimee Dale and Kiley Frazier all connected on shots. Alderton punctuated the first period with another three pointer to make it 17-6.

The junior guard started the second period in similar fashion, splashing another triple before finishing off a circus–like move, making a steal and being knocked to the floor before throwing up the lay up that somehow went down for two more points.

Jamie Shaw made back-to-back buckets in the paint as SCR-I extended the lead to 34-14 midway through the second period.

The defense continued to feed the high-scoring offense, as SCR-I converted on several more Brashear turnovers to lead 43-19 at the intermission.

The onslaught continued in the third period. Cali Holt led the fast break, scoring six points in the third quarter. Alderton capped off her huge night with back-to-back three pointers late in the third quarter before heading to the bench for the final eight minutes with the game well in hand as her Lady Tigers led 67-22.

SCR-I blanked Brashear in the fourth period to record the 78-22 victory.

Alderton led all scorers with 25 points, including five three pointers. Duley finished with 10 points while Tague and Dale each added seven points. All eight Lady Tigers scored at least four points in the win.
