Tague’s 24 Points Help Lady Tigers Bury Gophers 63-16

After struggling to put points on the board in its final two games at the North Shelby Tournament, Scotland County took out some of its offensive frustrations on Green City to the tune of a 63-16 win Monday night in Green City.

Ashley Tague scored early and often, putting up 20 points in the first half. The junior forward had nine points in the first quarter as the Lady Tigers pulled ahead 11-6.

The rest of the squad got into the act in the second quarter as Scotland County blew the game open with a 22-0 run.

Tague kept up her scoring output, pouring in 11 points during the key stretch. Kiley Frazier had a pair of field goals during the key stretch.

Anna Duley and Skyler Alderton connected on three pointers to help carry over the run into the third quarter. SCR-I got points in the paint as well courtesy of Aimee Dale and Jamie Shaw who combined for 11 third quarter points to build the SCR-I lead to 52-11.

Even with a running clock in the final eight minutes, SCR-I still added to the margin, outscoring Green City 11-5 down the stretch to win 63-16.

Tague finished with 24 points to lead all scorers. Shaw had nine points and Duley and Alderton each had eight points. The Lady Tigers improved to 9-6 on the year.
