Tigers Bid Farewell to Brookfield With Victory

It was a nail-biter Tuesday night in Brookfield, but the Tigers bid a fond farewell to the Bulldogs with a 54-52 victory over the school in their final Tri-Rivers Conference match-up. Earlier this year Brookfield and Clark County announced they were jumping ship for the Clarence Cannon Conference in 2010-11.

Kasey Dial connected on a three pointer in the first period and Kyle Shelley converted an old-fashioned three-point play to help insure the score was knotted at 13-13 after eight minutes of play.

Brandon Garnett exploded for eight points in the second quarter as SCR-I ran out to a 28-24 advantage at the intermission.

Brock Bondurant had five points off the bench in the third period to help maintain the four-point lead for the Tigers heading into the final quarter of play up 42-38.

Things got a bit dicey for SCR-I late but Drew Miller and Shelley each had a pair of key free throws to help Scotland County hold on for the 54-52 win.

Dial and Garnet each finished with 14 points to help the Tigers improve to 11-11 on the year and 5-1 in the TRC heading into Friday night’s finale at Schuyler County. Shelley and Bondurant each chimed in with nine points. Brookfield was led in scoring by Patrick McCurry with 18 points and Blake Williams with 14 points.
