Lady Tigers Top LaPlata in Regular Season Finale

Every team wants to head into the post season on a roll, but LaPlata did everything it could to keep the Lady Tigers from ending the regular season with a win.

The Bulldogs held a 21-18 halftime lead before SCR-I rallied late to pull away for the 44-38 victory to end the regular season with a 14-9 record heading into district play as the #3 seeded team.

Skyler Alderton nailed a pair of three pointers in the opening quarter as the home team went ahead 13-10. Ashley Tague poured in seven first quarter points on an emotional night for the junior forward.

But the Lady Tigers struggled on offense in the second period. The lone points came on a thee pointer by Alderton and a bucket in the paint by Aimee Dale. That allowed LaPlata to pull ahead 21-18.

Scotland County battled back into the game with its trade mark defensive pressure, holding LaPlata to only two field goals in the third period. Alderton continued to bomb away from behind the arc, connecting on her fourth three pointer of the contest and Tague also connected from long distance as SCR-I regained the lead with a 12-6 run to pull ahead 30-27.

Jamie Shaw came to life in the final eight minutes, scoring all seven of her points in the fourth period to help the home squad hold on for the 44-38 victory.

Alderton finished with 14 points to lead SCR-I and Tague finished with 13 points.
