Lady Tigers Rout Raiders 55-29 to Advance to Championship

The opening round magic that allowed North Shelby to upset Knox County disappeared for the Lady Raiders on night two of the Class 2 District 14 Tournament as Scotland County easily dispatched the underdogs 55-29 to advance to the tourney title game.

Aimee Dales puts up the shot over the North Shelby defender during the Lady Tigers’ semifinals win over the Raiders.

After falling to the Lady Eagles three times this year, SCR-I did not get a fourth shot at the tourney’s #2 seed. The Lady Tigers took advantage of the opportunity, blasting out of the gates and never giving North Shelby a chance.

Jamie Shaw poured in nine points and Ashley Tague had eight points in the first quarter as the Lady Tigers cruised to a 22-6 lead in the game’s first eight minutes.

Jessica Lindberger righted the Raiders ship in the second period with nine points, but Skyler Alderton kept the pressure on for SCR-I hitting a couple three pointers to keep the lead at 33-18 at half time.

Scotland County doubled up on the Lady Raiders in the third period, extending the lead to 42-21. Shaw continued to dominate the interior, scoring five points in the period. But it was the SCR-I defense that got the job done, holding North Shelby to just three points in the eight-minute span.

The Lady Tigers never gave North Shelby a chance for a second-straight come-from-behind win. Courtney Jackson and Shaw each had four points down the stretch as SCR-I outscored North Shelby 13-8 in the fourth period to pick up the 55-29 victory.

Scotland County improved to 16-9 on the season behind 18 points from Shaw. Tague finished with 13 points and Alderton added 11 points. Lindberger led North Shelby with 16 points.
