Tigers Finish Fourth at Van Buren Relays

The Scotland County boys track team opened the 2010 season with a fourth place finish in the 2A division of the Van Buren Invitational held April 1 in Iowa.

The Tigers racked up 57 points to finish in a tie with West Handcock.

Eddyville/Blakesburg won the meet with 202 points, well ahead of Keokuk (110) and Clark County (90).

Rod Sears earned a first place finish in the long jump event clearing 18 feet 8.5 inches. The junior also took top honors in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:12.56.

Monte Salley finished third in the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.1 seconds. Logan Payne and Evan Hager took fourth and fifth place in the 3,200 meter run. Lee Tague cleared 5 feet two inches in the high jump to finish fifth while William Masden was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 36 feet 11.5 inches.

The Tigers 4x100 meter team of Zac Miller, Brock Bondurant, Drew Miller and Salley was sixth as was the 4x400 meter relay team of Ben Shannan, Devon Wittenburg, Travis Belt and Tague.
