Track Squads Cross Border For Relay Action

The Scotland County track teams traveled to Bloomfield, IA, on April 6 to take part in the Dennis Anderson Relays.

The girls team finished tied for third place with Albia with 84 points. Davis County won the meet with 147 points followed by Pella Christian with 136 points.

The Lady Tigers had a strong showing in the field events. Loren Smith won the shot put with a throw of 327. Katie Miller finished fifth with a throw of 2810. The teammates finished third and fourth in the discus. Smith threw 8210.5" while Miller cleared 81 6.5. Elizabeth Duzan finished second in the high jump, clearing 48.

Augusta Purvis was fourth in the long jump and Anna Hirner was fifth. Purvis jumped 137 and Hirner covered 1210.

Duzan finished second in the 100-meter hurdles and 3rd in the 400-meter hurdles to carry over her strong afternoon onto the track.

Purvis was sixth in the 100-meter and 200 meter dashes. Kristie Parrish was fifth in the 3,000-meter run. Michelle Lunsford was sixth in the 3,000 meter run.

Anna Duley took fourth place in the 1,500 meter run with Abby Duley finishing sixth.

Ashley Tague earned fourth place points for the team in the 400-meter dash.

The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Kiley Frazier, Abby Duley, Skyler Alderton and Kristie Parrish finished third.

The 4 x 200 relay team of Andrea Middleton, Tague, Frazier and Westhoff was fifth.

The Lady Tigers also earned sixth place in the sprint medley and fourth place in the distance medley relays.

The boys team finished sixth in the Class AA standings with 12 points.

Rod Sears was second in the long jump, clearing 181 to account for eight points.

The 1600 meter medley relay team of Travis Belt, Cody Avery, Wyatt Kice and Austin Smith finished fifth.

The 4 x 800 relay team of Avery, Kice, Smith and Belt earned sixth place points as did the 4 x200 team.
