Fielding Woes Topple Tigers in 14-6 Loss to Highland

Scotland County got the bats going Tuesday night in Memphis but the leather was lacking as Scotland County committed 10 errors in the field to allow Highland to escape with a 14-6 victory on April 13th.

The Cougars jumped on top 3-0 in the top of the first inning, but SCR-I rallied in the bottom of the frame to knot the score at 3-3.

It was a one-run contest, 5-4 after three innings before the game slipped away from the home team. Highland plated nine runs in its final three at bats to run away with the contest.

Harley Stone was vicitmized by the fielding miscues. The sophomore hurler was tagged with 10 runs, but just five were earned. He walked two and struck out three while allowing eight hits in five innings of work.

Dakota Wells pitched the final two innings in relief, giving up four runs, only one earned. He struck out two and walked one.

Andrew Mathes was a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Tigers. The SCR-I shortstop banged out a pair of doubles and drove in three runs on the night.

Andrew Humes was 1-4 with a double that knocked in a pair of runs. Brock Bondurant was 2-4. Ben Shannan was 1-3 with a double and two runs scored while Stone went 1-2 at the plate and also scored twice.

The loss dropped Scotland County to 1-5 on the season.
