Salisbury Blanks Tigers 8-0 as Clark Throws No Hitter
While the two teams split the travel distance equally to meet and play Monday night’s baseball game in LaPlata, Salibsury definitely got more than its fair share of success on April 12th as the Panther’s prevailed 8-0.
Salisbury’s pitcher Ian Clark was the big story. He threw a gem, no-hitting the Tigers over seven innings to record the shutout. Clark struck out 14 and walked five in the effort.
Scotland County fell behind 2-0 in the opening frame and was never able to mount a challenge as Clark held their bats in check all night.
Ben Shannan was on the mound for SCR-I and took the loss, allowing eight runs, but only four earned runs. SCR-I committed four errors in the field, allowing Salisbury to tack on several tallies. Shannan gave up 12 hits and walked two while striking out six.
Miles Weimer did the bulk of the damage for the Panthers, going 4-4 with three doubles and three RBI.
The loss dropped Scotland County to 1-4 on the year. Salisbury remained unbeaten, improving to 7-0 this year.
