Tigers Take Title at Scotland County Varsity Relays

It was close enough to be a photo finish, but the Scotland County varsity boys track team defended its home turf with a victory at the Scotland County Relays held April 29th in Memphis.

The Tigers took top honors with a team score of 115, edging Knox County by two points, with Clark County a close third with 111 team points. Putnam County finished fourth with 85 points followed by Schuyler County with 79 points and Milan with 12 points.

Rod Sears split first place honors with Schuyler County’s Tim Gormon in the long jump, with both athletes recording jumps of 20’2 ˝”. Drew Miller was fourth with a leap of 17’9˝”.

The Tigers 4x4—relay team also earned first place points, crossing the finish line in 3:57.71.

Sabe Sears finished second in the high jump, clearing 5’4”. He also was second in the triple jump at a distance of 39’1˝”. Monte Sally took second place in the 400 meter run.

Logan Payne earned second place in the 3,200 meter run followed by teammate Evan Hager in third. Cody Avery finished third in the 1,600 meter run. Will Masden took third place in the discus with a throw of 91’9”. Rod Sears had the team’s other third place finish, crossing the finish line in 25.95 seconds in the 200-meter dash.

Teammates Logan Brassfield and Will See were fourth and fifth in the shot put. Miller took fifth in the 100-meter dash as did the 4x100 meter relay team.
