Couples Golf Tourney Draws 22 teams to Timber Ridge
Near perfect weather on Sunday helped draw a big crowd to Timber Ridge Golf Course for the June 6th Two Couple Golf Scramble tourney.
Teams of two men and two women competed in the scramble-format, with each team selecting the best shot from one of the four players. Each player then hits from the spot, repeating the process, with the team selecting the best shot from its four members.
The two couple team of Drummond and Drummond took top honors in the championship flight with a score of 58. There was a tie for second place. The teams of Shirey and Whiston and Martin and Walter each finished with scores of 63.
There was a tie for first place in the A flight. The team of Tayler and Bish won the tie breaker over the team of Lister, Harper and McMinn. Both teams shot a 67. The team of March and Swedburg was third with a 68.
Top honors in the B flight went to York, Racey and Gravett with a 72. They won the tiebreaker over the team of Hinds and Dawkins. Third place went to the team of Shubert and Shubert with a 73.
A total of 22 teams competed in the event.
The tourney also featured a contest on hole #3 for the shot closest to the pin. Gary Young was the winner for the men at 15” from the flag. Nancy Ewing was just 11' 5" from the pin to win the women’s contest.
