SCR-I Basketball Team Plays in Paris

by Brock Bondurant
The Scotland County boys basketball team went to Paris, MO to play four games last Thursday. The Tigers had an up and down day, going 2-2.

The Tigers started the day off with a low scoring affair against Mark Twain. Neither offense could get much going in a 28-25 win for SC over Twain.

In the second contest, the Tigers were matched up against the Marion County Mustangs. The much improved Mustang team used their quick, up-tempo style of play to keep the Tigers off-balance most of the game. The Mustangs won 42-37.

The next game pitted SC versus the South Shelby Cardinals. The game was back and forth with one team going on a large scoring run followed by the opposing team putting together a large scoring run as well. The shoot-out ended with the Cardinals on top, 61-52.

In the last contest of the day, Scotland faced their arch rival the Schuyler County Rams. Early on, the Tigers jumped all over the Rams, but throughout the game, SCR-1 allowed the Rams to sneak back into position to take the lead. In the end however, Scotland held on for the 48-46 win over the Rams.

Scotland began playing Monday in the Schuyler County Shootout. They play Monday through Friday with the day off on Wednesday. The Tigers will be playing teams from all around the state of Missouri, as well as teams from Iowa and Illinois, in four days of basketball action.
