Alderton Earns First Team All-Conference Softball Honors

An undefeated record and a league title were capped off with two top honors for the Schuyler County softball program when the Tri-Rivers Conference announced its post season awards this week.

Coach Steve Stock was named the Coach of the Year and third baseman Kourtney Nelson was a unanimous selection as the league's MVP.

The senior was joined by teammate Whitney McElhinney on the first team. Scotland County's Skyler Alderton was the lone Lady Tiger named to the 10-player first team.

Putnam County landed three girls on the top squad, including junior Katie Ryals, senior Kailee Sherer and sophomore Marissa Shuey.

Rounding out the first team were Milan's Giovanna Caponetto, a senior; North Shelby's Jessica Linberger, a senior; and Knox County's Stacey Leckbee, a senior.

Named to the all-conference second team were a pair of Scotland County underclassmen, sophomore Megan Creek and freshman Bethany Rader.

Also honored were Mackenzie Hustead, sophomore from Knox County; Chloe Robinson, sophomore from Schuyler County; Chelsea Starrett, senior from Putnam County; Kaylea Thompson, sophomore from Milan; Hannah Sanders, sophomore from Milan; Alexis Boas and Mallory Haley, sophomores from Schuyler County; and Jodi Brumbaugh, senior from North Shelby.
