Dial Explodes for 29 Points to Rock Raiders in Conference Opener

It was bombs away Tuesday might in Memphis as the Tigers rained down the three pointers on North Shelby to open the Tri-Rivers Conference season with a 64-40 victory over the Raiders.

Kasey Dial and Dakota Wells combined to can nine shots from behind the arc as the Tigers perimeter attack proved too much for North Shelby to handle.

SCR-I fell behind 8-4 early in the contest before Dial pumped in 13 points to pull SCR-I on top as his three pointer at the buzzer gave Scotland County an 18-16 lead.

The advantage grew to double digits midway through the second quarter. Dial had the first five points of the quarter before Sabe Sears converted a three-point play. Harley Stone sandwiched a three pointer by Wells with a pair of buckets in the paint to help push the lead to 33-20. Dial capped off a 21-point first half performance with a deep three pointer that just beat the buzzer to send his team to the locker room on top 38-22.

Wells hit his third triple of the night and added a conventional three-point play in the third period as Scotland County went ahead 53-29 with eight minutes left to play.

Dial made a push to top the 30-point plateau but fell just a point shy, scoring seven points in the final period as the Tigers ran away with the 64-40 victory.

The senior finished with a season-high 29 points to lead all scorers. Wells scored 12 points and Stone finished with 10 as the Tigers improved to 3-2 on the year and 1-0 in the TRC. North Shelby was led in scoring by Michael Stoneburner with 14 points.
