Seventh Grade Girls Close Junior High Hoops Season With 8-3 Record

After a slow start to the 2010 junior high basketball season, the Scotland County seventh grade girls rebounded to finish strong with a 8-3 mark.

SCR-I dropped the season opener 16-12 to Clark County despite strong games from Mikenzie Beckley and Avery Whitaker.

The Indians sent the Lady Tigers to an 0-2 start with a 31-8 defeat in the second contest of the year.

Scotland County righted the ship with a 20-16 victory over Knox County in Edina. Sophia Hoskinson scored nine points in the victory.

The season record was evened at 2-2 with a 26-16 victory over Putnam County on November 12th. Grace Garrett and Hoskinson each had eight points and Miranda Holland added six points.

The girls extended the winning streak to three games with a 22-16 win against Schuyler County. Kassie Bulen led all scorers with 12 points.

Milan was the next victim for the Lady Tigers. SCR-I bested the Wildcats 25-14 on November 17th behind 15 points from Hoskinson.

Scotland County made it five straight wins by besting Putnam County 24-8. Hoskinson was the leading scorer with 12 points and Holland added seven points.

The lone bump in the road occurred on November 30th when Putnam County rallied to beat the Lady Tigers 14-12.

The team rebounded to close out the season with three straight victories.

SCR-I topped Schuyler County 25-13 behind a season-high 16 points from Hoskinson.

Bulen and Hoskinson combined for 20 points in a 30-17 win over Canton on December 6th.

The season finale was a 19-16 victory over Schuyler County behind 12 points from Hoskinson.
