Volunteers Deliver Relief Aid to Joplin

On May 27th Denise Blaine, Kelly, Schelle, Micah and Elijah Cooley, Susan Buckallew and Stephanie Shalley delivered relief supplies collected at the SCR-I Elementary School to Forest Park Baptist Church in Joplin to help the tornado victims.

The items were donated by students and their families.

Denise and Deidra Blaine, Buckallew and Shalley joined the volunteer efforts to help unload, sort and hand out supplies.

"The generosity of people from all parts of the country and the appreciation of the victims has truly been an overwhelming experience for all of us," said Shalley.

The trio of Memphis ladies stayed in Joplin and attended church Sunday morning with Deidra Blaine, a student at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

After church the locals volunteered cleaning up debris in a residential area.

"The destruction is something that cannot be described with words or shown in pictures," said Shalley. "We are returning home disturbed by the many scenes we have observed, saddened by the personal stories we have heard and inspired by the sense of faith, unity, and love we have witnessed as this Missouri community begins to rebuild physically and emotionally."
