Pamida Clerk Facing Felony Stealing Charge

A sales clerk at the Pamida store in Memphis is facing a felony stealing charge for allegedly making more than $1,000 in false return claims at the store earlier this year.

According to the Memphis Police Department, Kimberly R. Blaine, 24, of Memphis was charged with the class C felony of theft of property in an amount greater than $500 but less than $25,000.

The investigation began on Wednesday, September 28th. Blaine was arrested on Tuesday, October 4th.

Court documents indicated that Blaine allegedly had used fake signatures on customer receipts to process false returns for cash. The report indicated that $475.35 was procured through the scam in August with $784.49 being pocketed by Blaine the following month before store officials identified the problem and contacted the authorities.

Blaine was taken to the Scotland County Sheriff's Office for booking before being released on her own personal recognizance. A summons was issued on October 6th. Blaine is scheduled for arraignment on November 1st in the associate circuit court.
