Two-Year-Old Killed in Accident

A two-year-old Scotland County girl has died from injuries she sustained after walking into the path of a vehicle that was exiting a private driveway.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Cynthia Martin, 2, died at Scotland County Hospital.

Dawn L. Garman, 22, was exiting a circle drive at the residence in a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe, when the little girl walked into the path of the vehicle and was struck by the passenger side front tire. The accident occurred at 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, November 5th.

Martin was transported to SCH by Scotland County Ambulance. She was pronounced deceased at 6:27 p.m. by Dr. Ronald Keller.

The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Scotland County Sheriff's Office, Scotland County first responders and the ambulance service.

The accident was the 31st fatality on 2011 investigated by Troop B of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
