Alliance Aid Campaign Underway in Scotland County

The Alliance Aid fund-raising campaign for the Scotland County Ministerial Alliance is currently in full swing. Contributions to Alliance Aid are used to stock the alliance's emergency food pantry and to help assist those in need with utility bills, medical expenses and other necessities when people experience a shortfall.

Shopping carts marked "Alliance Aid" are located near the doors inside Dollar General, J's Food and Pamida and are ready to receive food, household items and monetary donations.

"Unlike other charitable fund-raising campaigns held at the national level, everything that you give, 100 % of the proceeds, stays right here in Scotland County to meet the needs of our people," said alliance member Dan Hite of the First Baptist Church of Memphis.

In the past the community has generously donated food and household items and has contributed around one-thousand dollars annually to this cause.

"Contributions thus far are down this year," Hite stated, "but needs are greater than ever. The Ministerial Alliance would like to encourage our community during this week heading into Christmas to please consider contributing what you can to help those in need in our community. The churches of the Scotland County Ministerial Alliance wish all in our community a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. By working together we can make this happen."
