EMMA FRANCES (RUTH) STROUP
(9/21/1930 - 3/7/2011)



Emma Frances (Ruth) Stroup, 80 of Downing, Missouri passed away on Monday, March 07, 2011 at her home in Downing.

The daughter of Earl Edward and Dorothy Lee (Faris) Ruth, she was born on September 21, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois. Following her high school graduation, she was united in marriage to Jackie Blair Stroup on November 18, 1951 in Unionville, Missouri and to this union two children were born, Sandra and Micheal.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Moore and husband, John of Beaufort, North Carolina and Micheal Stroup of Newport, North Carolina; 2 grandchildren, John Hiles of Beaufort, North Carolina and Keith Hiles and wife, Dondra of Raleigh, North Carolina; 1 great grandson, Cale Hiles of Raleigh, North Carolina; 1 sister-in-law, Joyce Stomberg of St. Charles, Missouri; numerous cousins; 1 very special friend, Michelle Fry of Downing, Missouri and other family members.

Her parents; her husband, Jackie Blair Stroup on March 6, 2004; 1 sister, Roberta Lee Johnson and 1 brother, Earl Ruth, precede Emma in death.

Emma attended the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri. She was also a member of the Schuyler County Chapter of DAR where she had done extensive work on family genealogy.

Emma and her husband, Jackie owned and operated Jax's Music Company for 40 years while they lived in California. After Jackie's retirement due to health reasons, they returned to Downing, Missouri. Emma was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, who treasured the time she was able to spend with her family.

Memorial services will be held in June 2011 as the body has been cremated. Burial will be in the Downing Cemetery in Downing, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hospice of Northeast Missouri, 201 S. Baltimore, Suite C, Kirksville, Missouri 63501. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster and Downing, Missouri.
