Edgar Thatcher Foreman, 85 of rural Downing, Missouri passed away at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri on Sunday April 10, 2011.

The son of Edgar Oswald Foreman and Lena Fern (Thatcher) Foreman Thompson, he was born on March 5, 1926 in Lemon Cove, California. Following his high school graduation, Edgar enlisted with the United States Navy on September 28, 1944 and received an honorable discharge on June 16, 1946 following his service during World War II.

Edgar was united in marriage to Lois Juanita Leavell on March 29, 1947 in Exeter, California and to this union two children were born, Kathy and Michael.

Edgar is survived by his wife, Lois of Downing, Missouri; two children, Kathy Baxter and husband, Jaye of Greentop, Missouri and Michael Foreman and wife, Lisa of Livermore, Colorado; 5 grandchildren, Anthony Gale of Texas, Stacy Garcia of California, Thomas Foreman of California, Ian Johnson of Texas and Paul Foreman of Colorado; 9 great grandchildren; other family members and many good friends.

His parents and one brother, Harold Foreman, precede Edgar in death.

Edgar was a dispatcher for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1949 until his retirement in 1981. Following his retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Foreman moved to the farm in Missouri where he could indulge his passion for fishing and hunting. Edgar was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed every hunting season especially fishing in Canada with family and friends. He was an amateur gunsmith and ammo hand loader for several friends and neighbors. Many will certainly miss him.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, Missouri with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Music was provided by Janice McDonald, pianist. Special musical selections of "Amazing Grace", "Peace Like A River" and "It Is Well With My Soul" were performed. Pallbearers were Keith Hicklin, Colton Poe, Bruce Jackson, W. O. Poe, Dan Humphrey and Don McDonald.

Memorials have been established for the Coffey Cemetery. Burial was in the Coffey Cemetery, south of Downing, Missouri.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, Missouri.
