LARRY RICHARD MCNAMAR
(6/10/1939 - 4/5/2011)



Larry Richard McNamar, 71, of Memphis, MO passed away Tuesday morning, April 5, 2011 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, MO. The son of Floyd and Hazel Crawford McNamar, he was born on June 10, 1939 in Scotland County, Missouri.

Larry grew up on the family farm north of Gorin, Missouri. He attended Gorin R-3 High School and graduated in 1957. He married his sweetheart, Alberta Sue James, on Sunday, August 3, 1958 at the Gorin Baptist Church. To this union, 4 children were born: Larry Dennis, James David, Shawn Richard, and Shannon Ray. He and Alberta farmed around the Gorin area for many years, raising crops, livestock and their four sons. After he retired from farming in 1987, they moved to Memphis, Missouri. Larry was employed by OATS, Incorporated as a Driver and Industrial Opportunities as the Recycling Supervisor. He enjoyed farming, hunting, camping, spending quality time with his family and just simply visiting with people.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two sons; David and Shawn and two grandchildren; Ryan McNamar and Joshua McNamar.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Alberta McNamar of Memphis, MO; two sons, Dennis McNamar and his wife Paula of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, Shannon McNamar and his wife Kim of Kahoka, MO; 12 grandchildren: Maria Wesley and her husband Joshua, Rachel Tague and her husband Jared, Jessica Miller and her husband Matt, Monica, Levi, Caleb, and Jacob McNamar, Abigaile and Madison McNamar, Tyler Henstorf, Becca and Bailey McNamar; seven great-grandchildren: Moriah, Alexis, Eden, and Brynlee Wesley, Evan Tague, Evalyn and Genaveve Miller; one brother, Kenny McNamar and his wife Donna of Gorin, MO; daughter-in-law; Janene McNamar of Memphis, MO; sister-in-law; Carolyn Elveston and her husband James of Natchez, MS; three brothers-in-law, Terry James and his wife Cinda and Junior Masden and his wife Pam all of Kahoka, MO and Mark Masden of Memphis, MO; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Scotland County Care Center or to the donor's choice and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison St., Memphis, Missouri 63555.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis, MO. Officiating the service was Rev. Jim Campbell and Pastor Kim McNamar. Interment followed in the Gorin Cemetery at Gorin, MO. Musicians were Rachel Tague, pianist, and vocalists were Abigaile, Madison, Becca and Bailey McNamar.

Pallbearers were Oren and Johnny Erickson, Gary Thomas, Allen Fitzgerald, Ronnie Boyer and Joe Eddie Harvey.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel in Memphis.
