NOLAN S. CORWIN
(10/16/1933 - 4/16/2011)



Nolan S. Corwin, 77, Morris, IL passed away Saturday evening, April 16, 2011 in his home with loving family by his side. He was born on October 16, 1933 in Rutledge, MO the son of Fred and Rosella Davis Corwin. Nolan served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.

He married Neva M. Reynolds on June 8, 1952 in the Baptist Church in Rutledge, MO. In the late 1950's, with his wife and family, they moved to the Morris area to make their home.

He was employed as a diesel mechanic with several barge lines on the Illinois River. He drove car #44 at the Mazon Speed Bowl and was a Bush league pool player. A life time member of John Martin Steele Post #6049 in Morris where he served as the quartermaster and was a former member of the Morris Color Guard. He was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Morris.

Surviving is his loving wife of over 58 years, Neva; four children, Bernard Corwin, Larry (Maria) Corwin, Pamela (Steven) Ward and Connie Enger all of Morris, IL; ten grandchildren, Angelina and Natalie Corwin, Tina, Keith and Tyler Corwin, Gregory and Melissa Ward, Brian (Lindsay) Ward, Matthew and Karly Enger; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, LaVerne Bradley and Lois Brandt, Morris, IL; one brother, Ercel (Rosalie) Corwin, Kansas City, MO; several nieces and nephews. His parents and one grandson preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 20, 2011 with family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral services at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Parham of the Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Military honors were under the direction of the Morris Color Guard. Cremation rites will be accorded with private family inurnment at a later date. Preferred form of remembrance would be memorial gifts to the Calvary Baptist Church or the Morris Color Guard.
